There is a word, "munchkin," which isn't really a real word but comes from the story The Wizard of Oz. I have also heard " my little fella" (fella =fellow) as a phrase used.

I really liked it, I've worked as a copywriter for an American company fortwo years. Been writing academic works in English for students there and in itherEnglish-speaking countries. Loved it as it gave me an opportunity to learn many things in different spheres (e.g. medicine, literature, and many others). Unfortunately, the events of last year made it impossible to receive money from abroad so now I have it paused.

Если хотя бы немного подумать, то по очевидным причинам становится понятно, что навык разговорной речи делится ровно пополам:

1. Умение говорить
2. Умение слушать, что говорят.
   Говорить с вами, внезапно, будут не российские учителя английских школ, а разные люди, как и вы. С таким же разным уровнем владения английским, с разными акцентами и разными ошибками. Уметь услышать что говорят также важно, как и ваши навыки разговорного английского.
   Вам в школе на уроках английского не включали разные детские песенки? Это вот именно оно - умение слушать и слышать
   И потом, если есть вещи, которые не работают у вас, вовсе не означает того, что эти вещи не работают у всех остальных.

We are used to tender words, even our names can be changed in many ways to make them sound tender, while most of their names don't have variants To my mind, the greatest name ever for a baby is in French, they call them 'mon petit chou', which is word by word 'my little cabbage' That would do well for our children in winter, when we have a lot of clothes on, like we say it in Russian "одета как капуста"

It's only because you are not used to these phrases. It's like the phase "I love you," which means having strong or tender feelings towards another, but if you are not used to saying it in English, then it feels unnatural and you will only get used to it with time and experience

Фильмы и книжки - неживое общение. Хочется живых людей, пусть и чз инет. А что за группа экспатов? Это где?

До меня туго доходит))) сначала хотела восхититься, что экспаты - это ж как раз те самые носители! А потом дошло, что вы, наверное, по другую сторону баррикад)) в смысле, что где-то не в РФ и для вас экспаты - это как раз русские, приехавшие в страну вашего пребывания. Верно?
